Colorado Rapids brace for Revolution
By L.E. Eisenmenger • Apr 10th, 2008 • Category: Game PreviewsOn Saturday, the New England Revolution hosts the Colorado Rapids. Both teams started the season in schizophrenic fashion: The Rapids started the season on a high by disgracing the Los Angeles Galaxy 4-0, but then went down 3-2 to the Kansas City Wizards. The Revolution took a 3-0 season opener against MLS Cup rivals Houston, stumbled in a 4-0 loss to the Chicago Fire, only to redeemed themselves in a testy 3-1 win over the Wizards.
The Revs, mired by injuries, will patch together a starting lineup from its recent cache of new talent. while stalwarts Taylor Twellman, Steve Ralston, and Chris Albright recover. Recovering Joe Franchino put in a few final minutes in Kansas City, and a healthier Wells Thompson could also see time this week. Honduran acquisition Argenis Fernandez arrived this week and may play.
For the Rapids Captain Terry Cooke, who won man of the match honors in the season opener against LA – with a goal and two assists – will be instrumental, as will off-season acquisition Christian Gomez.
